It’s important to understand that in order to progress and heal in counseling you need to have the right team player. Without the right team player you risk losing your ability to grow, change, and function. Viktor Frankl coined the term “iatrogenic neurosis” to describe the process by which a healthcare provider can create or make worse symptoms in a patient. Having the wrong therapist can result in “iatrogenic neurosis” including a variety of other symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and even PTSD.
