What This Day Is For…

*REPOST FROM 11/24/2021:
Have you ever felt annoyed by the commercialism of #Thanksgiving?
Have you ever felt hurt by the reality of not being able to live up to the expectations of Thanksgiving?

If so, you are not alone.

Many years ago I felt this very same way. I couldn’t understand why the world had to celebrate in the ways it did. It felt unauthentic, commercialized, and way too cloaked by Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This is when I started creating meaning for myself and my family.

Every Thanksgiving we spend together I find myself cringing at the commercialism — hoping for a small corner of the world to hide so that I can reflect and show my gratitude in other ways. Now that I am older I recognize it is doubly important to be grateful for everything I possess today because tomorrow isn’t PROMISED.

Despite my the uphill climbs, internal battles, changing family dynamic, and daily challenges, there is still much to be thankful for.

For you, my friend, you also have a lot to be grateful for despite the family challenges, mental health struggles, or emotional battles you may find yourself in.

***I am grateful for your support and am beyond thankful that my work has been helpful to so many of you.

I do hope that today and tomorrow will prove to be emotionally and psychologically freeing for you. Whether you spend it alone or with family, make it a day that matters to your future.

Happy Thanksgiving!💖
